
Honored to be asked by the Pacheco family to speak about my dear friend and client, Latin music legend Johnny Pacheco, founder of Fania Records. His widow Maria Elena Pacheco, and I, along with moderator and family friend the Hon. Judge Jannette Ruiz on June 1st at the Woodlawn Cemetery and Nature Conservancy. Woodlawn opened in 1863 and is a National Historic Landmark. It's the final resting place of many notables in all fields. In music that includes Johnny Pacheco, Celia Cruz, Irving Berlin, Miles Davis, Felix Pappalardi, Duke Ellington, W. C. Handy, Fritz Kreisler, King Oliver, Max Roach, and George M. Cohan.
